This week's show has been many years in the making as we all love Otis Redding and his profound influence was also felt in Jamaica. From ska to rocksteady to reggae, Jamaican artists have done their best versions of songs written by the great singer/songwriter from Macon, Georgia. We gathered our favorite version of songs written and made famous by Otis and are presenting them to you on this week's show. Prince Buster's ska version of Otis' "Respect," Dave Barker's reggae version of "Mr. Pitiful," and The Heptones rocksteady version of "Dock Of The Bay", are just a few of the standouts that you'll hear this week. We hope that you enjoy the show. Please share this program with all you know who love Otis Redding, who left us way too young but left such an amazing legacy of music. XO Lily and Generoso

https://www.atlasobscura.com/places/otis-redding-memorial-plaque The Plaque where they crashed\ Today a plaque has been installed in a rooftop garden by the Otis Redding Memorial Fund. The view looks out over the lake where Redding died, and there are a trio of benches for visitors to sit and ponder the man’s legacy. As the plaque states, the Madison show he was trying to get to was the only one he ever missed.

Thank you for sharing this Melody. We had no idea that this Plaque existed and it is quite lovely. Otis, besides his amazing talents, was a real pro and worked non-stop his whole life.

We were all so heartbroken. I loved the lakes that surrounded Madison and spent so much time sailing there. So sad that such a small lake was where they crashed.

So glad u are doing a show on Otis Redding. I was in college at Madison the night his plane crashed into a nearby lake, Instead of going to a concert, I recall going to a vigil.... probably the first vigil i went to, Greatful the music lives on

Thank you for listening Melody. I didn't know that you were near where Otis passed. Such a loss at the age of 26 with that kind of talent, both as a singer and songwriter.
