Borough assistant editor Charlotte Cray sat down with the debut author to discuss why living as a GP on the remote Scottish island of Barra with his kids inspired him to write about what would happen if a pandemic swept all the adults away. It's a stunning imagining of the carnal realities of survival and lets you be a fly on the wall as a group of children try to rub along together, try to be good, try to survive. Claire Fuller, the author of the amazing Our Endless Numbered Days nailed it completely when she said: ‘It's the kind of book that made me want to wake my children from their beds, just to kiss them and whisper that I love them. It’s a tremendous novel – I absolutely loved it’.
