Austerity: Are social attitudes changing?

The latest survey of British Social Attitudes suggests 48% of Britons think the government should raise taxes, redistribute wealth and create more jobs.

Our correspondent Simon Jack reports on how austerity has changed since 2010.

Conservative MP Sir Oliver Letwin tells Mishal Husain that taxes could increase for a large number of people in order to maintain trends towards a reduced deficit and increases in spending on public services.

Sir Oliver said the government has to continue its programme of restoring fiscal credibility in order to be protected when the next downturn comes.
