Episode 218 - Top Ten Banned Songs w/Gary Shapiro

Playing tracks by

The Who, Elton John, Donna Summer, Jim Morrison/Music By The Doors, Madonna and more.

As a true rock star and/or rock songwriter, there is no greater honor than to have a song be banned. Be it by the church, by the government, or by local radio; being banned puts you in great company. From The Beatles to N.W.A., all of the best and most revered acts in rock, pop, hip hop and country music have been banned for reasons both hilarious and mystifying. Recording from the Cantorial Lounge in lovely Beverly Hills, CA, Ben is joined by the illustrious Gary Shapiro, who knows a thing or two about being hilarious and mystifying. They explore the seedy underside of rock & pop, playing songs you know well, and some you definitely have never heard before. For various reasons, these songs have been banned from airplay or performance, and the stories behind this dubious distinction will make you laugh and shake your head in equal measure.
