She Makes War and Kevin Morby.
The first hour of this episode of Beautiful Freaks Weekly features music from Kevin Morby's newest album Singing Saw, which brings together his wise and weary voice that sounds like the young Bill Fay with some triumphant instrumental arrangements. In comparison to his previous album Still Life, Singing Saw is more outspoken and positive, and, overall, better.
And in the second hour your usual host is joined by Max Bastow to live discuss the new RADIOHEAD album. Track by track we listen to A Moon Shaped Pool, offering commentary after every song. It was a great ride for us, with one surprise after the other, and the 'final' verdict is a positive one: A Moon Shaped Pool is, after the rather disappointing The King of Limbs, not only a fantastic comeback, but also an album of extremely high quality when taken on its own. Tentative favourites: Ful Stop, Burn the Witch, Daydreaming, Indentikit, True Love Waits.
