Bouganville

Bouganville/Bougainville - an island off Papua New Guinea with a population of 175,000. The Bougainvilleans fought successfully for independence in the 1990's, after being mercilessly exploited by mining companies supported by government troops. The people of the island showed miraculous fortitude and ingenuity in managing to survive for over a decade, whilst cut off from the rest of the world by blockade. The island has little or nothing to do with this mix of music.
