I made this mix today while sitting on the front porch of a historic plantation home that was renovated into a public library. I watched/felt the rain nourish this city's tropical vegetation for two hours straight. It's a softer set, that attempts a humble scratching of the surface of African diaspora and its musical implications for the places I've traveled extensively through (Latin America) and the city I've decided to call home (New Orleans). The most notable theme in this set is jazz music. Most of these songs are pre-1970's and date back as far as 1930. All of this music is from Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean.
