Mia Wenjen and Valarie Budayr Discuss Their Epic Event in Multicultural Literacy

Meet the founders of Multicultural Children's Book Day:  Mia Wenjen, a mom and founder of PragmaticMom.  Mia is half Japanese and half Chinese American and married to a Korean American.  Valarie Budayr is a mom and founder of Jump Into a Book blog. Valarie is Muslim, originally from Sweden and speaks 5 languages including Arabic.

These women saw a need, a need for more children to see themselves in the books they read.  Together they created, Multicultural Children's Book Day, a national non-profit that works to raise awareness about, and put diverse books into more classrooms, libraries and homes.  Last year alone, the organization generated more than 3.8 billion social media share impressions over three days. https://multiculturalchildrensbookday.com/

Radio host and author Laura Moe spent most of her working life as a librarian and English teacher in central and Southeastern Ohio, but has recently moved to Seattle where she writes full-time. Moe is the author of YA novels
