So when Jesus changes water into wine, he’s not just demonstrating his wonder-working power. No. He’s revealing himself as the Creator. He’s revealing himself as the Lord of water and wine, and of all creation. He’s revealing his glory, the glory of God. And he does it at a place of joy, a wedding celebration. And he does it when the joy is about to end. When the wine is gone, just then he makes the best wine and plenty of it. Just then, he makes the joy of that wedding celebration complete.
