First foray into on-air DJing: one hour playing music on UBC's student radio station CiTR 101.9FM. I won this opportunity after I entered a draw at Under the Volcano. I had a blast, and it was an incredible learning experience. It was also a trip down memory lane for me, having spent a lot of time at UBC, first as a child taking swimming lessons and visiting the video arcade, and later as a student and employee. I had a membership in the 1990s that let me train on the CiTR studio equipment, explore and listen to their incredible music library, and make a zany mix tape with friends. Ever since, I've enjoyed listening to CiTR programming, especially the Rockers Show (reggae) and the Jazz Show. All of these experiences were in mind when I stepped into the studio, so the set has a nostalgic feel. A reflection of my diverse interests: some favourites, some (at the time) recent discoveries, some I'd discovered through CiTR. Includes regulated spoken word intros, local and Canadian content.
