This week's episode of It's Lit features poetry, testimony, and resistance music in support of the Kiaʻi Mauna--the protectors of Mauna Kea. We had scholar-activist-creative writers Noelani Goodyear-Kaʻōpua, Noʻu Revilla, and Shelley Muneoka in the studio, sharing their original lit and curating a powerful playlist with an enriching range of artists. The full playlist is available on Spinitron here: http://bit.ly/2hXNsrZ
In addition to lit by Noelani, Noʻu, and Shelley, this show also includes creative writing for the Kiaʻi by Travis Kaulula‘au Thompson, Leilani Portillo, Cory Harden, Francois Waikoloa, and Emalani Case.
I am grateful to Noelani for the idea to dedicate this show to the Kiaʻi, to Noʻu for the powerful artwork she created that we have also been featuring to publicize this episode, to all of the writers and musicians whose gorgeous works make up this episode, and to the Kiaʻi, who this episode is for.
