Rebecca Makkai’s first novel, The Borrower, was a Booklist Top Ten Debut, an Indie Next pick, an O Magazine selection, and one of Chicago Magazine's choices for best fiction of 2011. Her short fiction was chosen for The Best American Short Stories in 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011, and appears regularly in publications such as Harper's, Ploughshares, Tin House, New England Review, and Ecotone, and on public radio’s Selected Shorts and This American Life. Her second novel will be released by Viking/Penguin in the summer of 2014, followed by a short story collection. Rebecca has two young daughters and teaches at Lake Forest College and StoryStudio Chicago.
