This entertaining and informative show traces the development of UK music radio starting with Radio Normandy and Radio Luxembourg in the 1930's and focuses on the offshore pirate stations of the 1960's. Includes many jingles and records that became hits thanks to pirate radio as well as the voices of Radio Caroline's Ronan O'Rahilly, Philip Birch of Radio London, and DJs Roy Plomley, Barry Alldis, Simon Dee, Tony Windsor, Paul Kaye, Keith Skues, Dave Cash and "Screaming" Lord Sutch.
This programme was produced, written and presented by Bill Rollins in 2009 for Internet radio Atlantic Oldies 2NG. Bill started in radio in 1965 with short-lived English offshore station "Tower Radio" broadcasting from Sunk Head Tower off the Essex coast. He also worked with East Anglian Productions and was responsible for the production of the album box-set "The Radio Caroline Story" and "Laser 558 Story".
