This is the first mix in the run of Dub.Tech.Disco.Vibes sessions, which pull together a wide gamut of influences and styles. Having just switched to using the Traktor DJ software and with the snow blocking all exits from my house in a deep winter before Christmas 2008, I decided to go an a marathon mixup session lasting several days.
Each of the 4 mixes were carefully curated from well-filtered playlists, each transition was thoroughly considered and executed with concentration. I wanted each mix to be distinctly different and with timeless, quality music as the main focus.
This Dub mix is not made of pure, traditional "Dub" music per se, although it does feature in a glimmer at the end with a track from 1978 by Lee 'Scratch' Perry. It is mainly a homage to the way that this kind of music has bled into the soul of all forms of modern electronic music.
