Anthony Costello, FAIA says "architecture is not a profession, it's a way of life." He lives this everyday through his practice, teaching and service to the profession. As a professor at Ball State University for many years, Mr. Costello describes his emphasis on service learning which comes from his deep responsibility to give back to other. In this podcast interviewed by a former student, he talks in depth about a mentor and colleague who also promoted and taught community-based urban design in teaching. He explains how his teaching was always his top priority but one of his greatest challenges was balancing it all in life. He also jokes that since his retirement, his wife says at least he practices now at 4pm, not 4am anymore.
