Paul Hobday qualified as a doctor at Guy’s in 1979 and after a few terrifying hospital jobs, settled as a GP in the Kent village of Sutton Valence for 30 years. He felt very privileged to be trusted to care up to five generations of family practising real family medicine. He apologises for his mistakes.
Throughout that time he fought a seemingly losing battle to help protect the founding principles of the NHS against ignorant politicians, the medical establishment, a gullible media and a bewildered public.
In desperation and anger he stood for Parliament on a Save the NHS platform in 2015, but having been left speechless by events, thought he would write it all down instead and detonate a book on the unsuspecting public.
Despite all that, he feels his proudest achievements are his daughters who he desperately wants not to have to get their future healthcare from an American-style moneymaking system.
