This episode will be introducing decolonial musician, thinker, and above all, good friend of the pod JHT, or Jose as he is known to us. In a terse but searing commentary, Jose spoke to us about the travails of being a musician with a decolonial political aesthetic in a white capital-hungry industry and the colonial parallels of his career that overlap with his life as an immigrant in London. Our conversation took place just before a trip to his native Colombia in preparation for his new album and so touched on his disappointments and worries about the work he does but also his hopes and dreams for its potential to imagine (a) decolonial future(s).
