Playing tracks by
Christian Prommer's Drumlesson, Cinematic orchestra, United Future Organization, Galliano, Cesar Mariano And Cia and more.
Not for the jazz purists and a very tenuously linked tracks - but a mix of jazziness nonetheless!
It all came from listening to Christian Prommer's covers suite of dance tracks, one of which kicks off (with Richard Nixon) the mix in a gradual build-up until the Cinematic Orchestra take over. The lunacy of Galliano had to feature at some point and the true jazzy flavour of the mix takes off, with "Jazz?". It would have been rude to have omitted Jazzanova in such a track list so I added one of their more recent offerings from a studio session on German radio.
Letta Mbulu's timeless "What is Wrong with Groovin" was a must; just the way the piano starts up with the 3am lazy drum rhythm... what is wrong with wailing? Nothing, here.
I decided to limit myself to an hour this time round as I have a tendency to pile on the tracks. I was able to trim the fat and ensure Pressure Drop got a look in with the double-bass laden track, "Unify" (as featured on the Coldcut JDJ master class in mixing)
