Louise Hannon is an extraordinary example of the power of the will to triumph over adversity. Louise's personal story could be worthy of a Hollywood movie but she eschews the limelight, instead opting to unspectacularly fight for the cause of Transgender rights. Joining Michael FitzGerald for Global Solidarity, Louise shares details of how she was obliged to publicly confront Trans discrimination by the actions of a prejudiced employer.
In a very personal interview Louise explains what it means to be Transgender and what Trans Rights = Human Rights. Welcoming Minister Joan Burton to the European Transgender in Dublin, Louise relates that she hopes the Minister will announce the promised Gender Recognition legislation will not emulated it's out-of-date UK counterpart. She challenges the Government to put the individual and family at the heart of Gender Recognition legislation by making it inclusive and non-stigmatic. Sadly this is not what Joan Burton announced .
