Fahredin Shehu interview

Chart positions

This show was 33rd in the global interview chart.

Fahredin Shehu is an Albanian-Kosovan poet, festival organizer and literary translator, living in Rahovec. He has published some twenty books, and his poetry has been translated into 26 languages. Among his many honors, he has recently been been named Doctor Honoris Causa and Lifetime Academic at the Universum Academy in Lugano, Switzerland and received the Alexander the Great prize for human rights in Italy. In this fascinating interview, he discusses becoming a poet during the breakup of the former Yugoslavia, his Sufi lineage and practice, the process of healing, and the strong relation between his literary and spiritual path. He speaks of his extreme frustration traveling as a resident of Kosovo, leading to his founding the annual Kosovo International Poetry Festival – now in its fifth year – and he shares with us several of his poems, in Albanian and English. This conversation took place in Rahovec in September, 2018. Author photo by Branden Banko.
