About the show

Playing tracks by

Vienna Glass Armonica Duo, Wendy Craig, Structures Sonores Lasry Baschet, Broadcast and The Focus Group, Michael Jessett, Michael Cole and Rick Jones and more.

There are blogs, websites, albums, record labels and even other Mixcloud playlists dedicated to that dusty, faded, unsettling, 16mm vibe that accompanied childhood in the 70s and 80s. Mournful folk music and musique concrete where you'd expect jolly tunes to be. Clipped RP tones that made warm invitations and dire warnings sound more or less the same. Videotape that rendered things too harsh and bright and film that rendered things too grainy and dark. This is my attempt to recapture that time and place. I hope you like it.

Here are the sources for the spoken bits that aren't listed in the timeline: The Spirit Of Dark And Lonely Water (Central Office Of Information/Illustra Films 1973), The Magic Fountain (Yorkshire Television 1973), Sit Up & Listen (Thames Television 1982), Never Go With Strangers (Central Office Of Information/Balfour Films 1971).

where did you get the Cleveland Way sample? I would love to have this to use in a mix I am working on for a Radio show - could you point me in the right direction to track it down?
