You Don't Listen To Your Records Anymore (31/3/2017)

Playing tracks by

Queen, Chuck Berry, Courtney Marie Andrews, Pink Floyd, Rudy Mills and more.

How-Dee! Only me. I'm soon off supporting The Who again, so I thought I'd get a quick one in! Expect another load of old and new plus all the news involving The Standard Lamps. Enjoy!

Great, as always. Was interested in your thoughts on Mono vs Stereo. Went to an event at our local arts centre recently where they played a vinyl version of S F Sorrow by the Pretty Things, followed by a Q and A with Dick Taylor from the band. When asked if it was true that the band preferred the mono version, he said that with only a 4 track tape recorder available in the studio at Abbey Road that they were using (the Beatles and Pink Floyd were using the main studios), they gave no thought to final mono/stereo mixes during the recordings, and thus things were assigned rather randomly in the stereo mix and it sounded "a bit strange", with instruments where you wouldn't expect them. Basically, it was a limitation of the overdubbing process with limited channels. However, S F Sorrow hasn't been issued on vinyl since the original pressings, and these are rare and now fetch £300+ if you can find one.
Anyway, hope the Who tour was fun, and keep up the good work, looking forward to the next one
