Sherry Dixon speaks to Sheree Brown
Sheree Brown is a singer, songwriter, musician, and producer. She began her career as a rhythm & blues and pop recording artist on the Capitol Records label in the early eighties. While on the label she penned all of the songs from her, Straight Ahead and The Music albums.
Sheree has achieved gold and platinum record status over the years for songs that she has written or co-written for various artists; including Kirk Franklin’s hit “Looking for You.” She is a “Song of the Year” Stellar Award nominee and has received various ASCAP Awards.
Most recently she has collaborated with her husband and educator, Douglass Johnson, Sr., and award-winning director/ art director, Pixote Hunt, to co-write the children’s book, Zhakanaka the Word along with its inspired music CD, “We Can Change the World.” It is music for ALL AGES and promotes anti-bullying and youth against violence.
