Another installment in what's turning out to be a series of mixes: 'A mix inspired by the film....' This time I've opted for what is undoubtedly a more well known classic, David Cronenberg's unforgettable Videodrome.
As with my other 'inspired by' mixes this is a personal interpretation of Cronenberg's body horror tale of distorted realities in the video age.
Electro is used substantially throughout, a genre of music that always smacks efficiently of sci-fi and it's often dark, dystopian undertone lends itself well, and the fact that some of the lyrics are particularly poignant for this movie.
I've maintained a video aesthetic throughout by using samples of static, so don't worry you're not imagining it! I really wanted to reflect the deteriorating qualities of magnetic tape, but also the disintegration of the protagonist Max Renn.
Don't adjust the tracking, succumb to the New Flesh!
