For those of us who grew up with the first wave of new wave and synthpop and the 80s,1983 was anything goes ---- synthpop, new wave, punk, reggae, and even rockabilly. I put this show together to try to capture some of the spirit from that year, while saving a few slots for the second wavers ---- just to show that it all mixes so well. I came across the extended remix of the Naked Eyes smash "Always Something There to Remind Me." This was a big alternative hit before it became mainstream, and I the extended mix is so rare. Rockabilly new wave was such a big part of the scene, the old sound was new wave --- the Stray Cats, the Pole Cats, the Bluebells, I even jumped back to Rockpile. You'll also hear a rarity of Wide Boy Awake. For those who remember the "Rock of the 80s" channels, this was a mainstay. A classic from Heaven 17 is helped out by Elly Jackson from Laroux, plus a remix of an Erasure classic, Roxy Music, and a jump to today with Chrvches and Robyn
