Radio 1 UK Top 40 chart with Tommy Vance - 10/02/1991

Radio 1 UK Top 40 chart with Tommy Vance - 10/02/1991

Playing tracks by

George Michael, Gloria Estefan, Ralph Tresvant, Railway Children, The, Off-shore and more.

Taken from my recreated collection that spans classic Radio 1 chart shows - doing a full chart show the way you want it...
...and, as usual, this show is in full, pips and all, done especially for Radio 1's 50th birthday!
In this very hard to recreate chart show - first before BFBS (also on my channel) - the super amazing and legendary Friday Rock Show host Tommy Vance stands in for Mark Goodier to count down the forty biggest hits of the week.
As for what you hear on the chart, expect tunes from the likes of George Michael, Living Colour, Queen, Gloria Estefan, Enigma, 2 in a Room and so much more.
Will The Simpsons shake their way up to the top to claim the prize of the No.1 spot with their funky new jack swing of "Do the Bartman"? Or will The KLF remain "3 a.m. Eternal" at the top?
Listen to find out or, if you want to really ruin the surprise, the link to see the chart in full is here: http://www.officialcharts.com/charts/uk-top-40-singles-chart/19910210/750140/

Recreated collection? You mean you literally replicated the idents and Tommy Vance's voice links? Fair play.

No, I kept the jingles and Tommy’s links from the full edited programme, but added the songs back in to the appropriate starting point.

debx_2000, thanks for pointing that out! Again, I must mention that there is no official copy of the facially yours mix of "In Yer Face" anywhere on getting web, as far as I know. But the thing is, I was getting this recreation ready in time for Radio 1's fiftieth birthday, so keep that in mind. I didn't know what I was doing at the time, so spot more errors if you can! Anyway, thanks for listening to this classic Radio 1 chart show!

I have found a problem with your recreation! I have a partial copy of this show on cassette tape and I know for certain that Tommy Vance played the Remix 12" version of "In Yer Face" the Facially Yours Mix instead of the 7" or CD single version. Which I remember confused me when I bought the cassette version of the single. I spent years trying to find that mix.

If you're also wondering why it sounds low quality with the master, I had to make do with the limited audio and video editing software I had at the time, and the limited sources I had. Since someone else has the full edited show on YouTube, I decided to recreate the full unedited show to put here on Mixcloud. But it was a challenge. When I realised Radio 1 was turning 50 on September 30th 2017, I just had to upload it on there when the day bang on began. And I did, with a few months work and a bit of patience. And here it is, a very hard to recreate show.

Did you notice that I have the BBC Greenwich Time Signal pips at the start and end of this Mixcloud programme, to make it as authentic as possible? I think it's because Radio 2 still shared Radio 1's FM frequencies for this show in Northern Ireland when it aired!

Stephen "The Radio Kid" Emmett

I take that back. Radio 2 last let Radio 1 borrow its FM frequencies for the Top 40 on March 25th, 1990.

I have listened to this and i say well done getting this added track in line with the join from the master copy, however some of the added tracks i have noticed are slightly poor, low volume output and in mono ect. I Maybe wrong but i guess you got the master clips off youtube lasting about 36 mins long and added the tracks together as a full show. a use of recording software with processing would be much better, leveling the volume throughout and a search for some better quality of songs to match the whole length

Ahh, thanks! But about that "slightly poor, low volume output" mention, it's probably because I was learning how to put the tracks together with the master. That mention is very much notable on the No.22 song, "Can I Kick It?" by A Tribe Called Quest, which I had a low quality copy of the radio edit, which was in stereo but sounded mono.
