Back to Brazil - Samba, Forro, Bossanova, Funk and (other) modern Brasil sounds - 3 August 2012

Playing tracks by

Jose Orlando, Funk ’n Lata, The Capoeira Project, Carla Hassett, Da Cruz and more.

The Brazil women's soccer team may be out of the Olympics, but that won't put a damper on this Sunday's Brasilfest at the Seattle Center… and it didn't rain on this radio show either. We heard all manner of Brazilian music, from forro to funk, for some two-thirds of the show. Plus new releases and more in hour 2. (That photo, by the way, is an LP cover of forro pioneer Luiz Gonzaga. Google him.)

It's gonna be a sizzling weekend ('bout time!) here in Cascadia. Stay cool, have fun … and as always, live locally and groove globally until next Friday's show.

Hey Don - glad to be able to confirm that KAOS is still going strong. You know you can listen live, even from way over there in Minneapolis -- via our webstream at www.KAOSradio.org, right? Come back sometime and join Samba Olywa for the Procession of the Species sometime, eh?

Don Cuchisco

Wow! You shocked me when you said KAOS. I used to do a radio show there in the late eighties/early nineties before I moved here to Minneapolis to get my PhD. Great to hear some good Brazilian music and from my old hometown no less.
