Soulelujah resident IPL finally put this little resist mix together out of frustration with the never-ending garbage train coming out of our current political situation. These aren’t really rare tracks nor do they keep with any particular era or genre. What they do have in common is a message of deep displeasure with the system, some subtle (and not so subtle) jabs at our "dear leader" as well as an abiding solidarity with justice, peace and equality. Pretty wild (albeit unfortunate) how accurately these themes put to record some 40-60 years ago continue to reflect the everyday for many Americans. In addition to the message power, the tracks are united in their funkiness and floor burning prowess. Anyway, hope it inspires some positive political thought or at least a feeling of camaraderie sending a musical FU to small men with big authoritarian ambition.
See ya next Saturday. - IPL
