Questlove - The Lesson Mix

Questlove - The Lesson Mix

About the show

Playing tracks by

Labi Siffre.

Originally broadcast on Gilles Peterson's Worldwide Show on BBC (25th Sept 2005)

Questlove, is of course the drummer from The Roots, and as put together a mix of sampled songs that popular hip hop songs have borrowed from which provides an interesting and alternative journey.

https://www.mixcloud.com/SoulCoolRecords/questlove-the-lesson-mix/ is a cool way to start a Saturday morning or perfect for a lazy Sunday.

It’s not focused on the super rare stuff, more a personal trip through the history of samples and focuses more on samples which are classics in their own right rather than rare for the sake of being rarer than a hen's teeth!

I was just having a chat with someone this evening, about djs being selfish about tracks and not wanting other djs to know it. i pointed out that attitude is quite egotistical, and shows that the dj is more concerned with their ego than their audience. if you're sure of yourself you know that you can play that music in a way that no one else has heard before. and if you're really into it for the music, you would want to share good music with others. i relate this story because i came here to listen to this good set, but am not allowed to due to licensing restrictions. wtf is that?? why must everything be monetized and commercialized? why dont you want to just share good music? who is controlling you and telling you that you have to do it this way?

"Due to licensing restrictions in the USA this show can only be played three times in a two week period."
