One year on from the summer riots and insurgencies of 2011, we are left as a community with questions about legacy, representation and resistance. Come to share your experiences, thoughts and ideas.
The George Padmore Institute, in collaboration with So We Stand, invite you to this event to hear a panel of community organisers speaking about how best to support our young people, why it’s important to reflect on and learn from our political histories and why we should be taking control of how our actions now will be recorded. By tying in to the George Padmore Institute’s archive on the Black Youth movement in the 70s and 80s, and responses to oppression at that time we will reflect on what responses activists have made in the year following on from the riots in London.
Chaired by Remi Harris, panelists include:
- Michael La Rose
- Nim Ralph
- Fahim Alam
- Sukant Chandan
