The Music Was Still Alive (The Day Jim Morrison Died) July 3, 1971

Playing tracks by

The Grass Roots, Three Dog Night, Cornelius Brothers & Sister Rose, The Beginning of The End, Wilson Pickett and more.

On the day Jim Morrison died, Billboards Hot 100 (charting singles list) came out for the week ending on that day. The Door's "Riders on the Storm" appeared for the first time on that day, charting then at #74 (it eventually reached #14 on the charts). Also interesting is the fact that Carole King's greatest single ever (the sleeve of which is pictured) was in the middle of a five week peak at #1 on the charts (both sides of that single used in this mix). All of the songs used here made it onto the Billboard Hot 100 list for the date 7/3/71 and half of those appeared in the R&B charts as well.
