The Beatle Bug with Mick Francis & Estefy Lennon 23/03/16by Radiomade
So glad my friend told me about this. It's wonderful and I am very happy.
Thank you so much for this show talking about us from South America and the Beatles in our musical life. Thank you for Stefy..Is that her name? I had never heard about her before and she is really great. I loved her voice and the way she sings. Thank you!
Thanks for the details! Estefy Lennon is her name. I'm a big fan!
I am not sure but think Lizzy braco was married to one member of the "Corner Club" ( Clube da Esquina). The composer and singer Zé Rodrix.
And now you are playing Paul's bossa Nova Step Inside Love. Paul declared he really got nfluence in Brazilian Music. I got so happy...because I always noticed that but most disagreed with me. And then i found him saying it is true! Wow!
They called the Beatles here as the kings of the iê, Iê, Iê. I think it happened only here. They gave this name to the Beatles sound, based on "Yeah, Yeah, Yeah" from the song She loves you. Roberto Carlos Had a TV show called Jovem Guarda where some singers used to sing Beatles Songs. He was the rock King in Brazil. I had the chance to know him in 66. IN fact, he was our guest...He spent a night in my house. Really. His pilot was from Liverpool. I got even more excited for this reason. We also had a movement called Tropicalismo based on Psychodelic Rock clearly influenced on the Beatles. In Sgt Pepper's I'd say. It was very Brazilain but souding like the Beatles in 67 /68. Guess our best rock band ever was from this moviment and very much like The Beatles. The Mutantes. Sean Lennon considers them one of the best in the world. He came to Brazil and performed with one of them. And...I had also to say about the Clube da Esquina Movement. The Leader was not so influenced by The Beatles mas lots of the members ( it was a kind of club) were Beatlemanics. And they still are. One of them, Beto Guedes, is my personal friend. He started his carreer playing bass in the rock band that used to sing mainly Beatles songs. They used to play here in my city where he was born. He recorded Norwegian Wood with the leader one of our best singers: Milton Nascimento. :) South America Loves the Beatles and our music got even better thanks to them.
George came to Brasil only to see the Grand Prix!
She is spectacular!
It took me a longer time to get here but here I am listening. Enjoying it very much. The song dedicated to Chico Mendes is sheer perfecition. And for me, being Brazilian, it gets even better for what it means.
Estefy's enthusiasm for her music is very contagious! Yes you should definitely have her back as a guest sometime. Buenos Aires seems like a great place for Beatle people to visit.
I'd love to visit there some day. She's brilliant!!
another good show mick.
Thank you, Marytheresa! More to come next week.
