Over 300 people braved the cold to attend the demonstration against fracking at Balcombe today. French campaigner visits Balcombe to support fight against fracking.
Legendary French campaigner José Bové visited Balcombe on Sunday 19 January to give his support to the fight against fracking in the UK.
Fracking is illegal in France and MEP José Bové played a huge part in achieving the ban in that country.
José Bové has a long record of achievements through peaceful direct action in many environmental, food, farming and global trade campaigns over the past 40 years.
He is the founder of small farmers’ group Confederation Paysanne and was active in Via Campesina which defends small-scale sustainable agriculture to promote social justice and dignity.
José Bové was elected to the European Parliament in 2009 as a member of Europe Écologie – Les Verts, a coalition of French environmentalist political parties.www.frackfreesussex.co.uk
