Our New Year’s Weekend show was recorded at what turned into a real party at Mahaiwe Theatre in Great Barrington, Massachusetts. John Pizzarelli and Jessica Molaskey were joined by their daughter, Madeleine Pizzarelli, who was on holiday from college, and another musical couple, from Brazil, drummer Duduka Da Fonseca and singer Maucha Adnet. And tenor sax player Jack Branfield joined John’s regulars, pianist Konrad Paszkudzki and bassist Michael Karn. During the opening sequence, even young John Pizzarelli joined the celebration by contributing a mandolin performance. It was their way of wishing everyone in the auditorium and all the radio listeners a happy 2019.
