Talking Heads were one of the seminal bands of the late seventies early eighties, offering art house punk as a cultured alternative to England's Clash & Sex Pistols. After an impressive debut Talking Heads: 77 they tied up with Brian Eno who produced their next three albums which became the bench mark for the thinking man's rock. After cutting loose from Eno, perhaps concerned that they were losing themselves up their own rectum they released their denouement in Speaking In Tongues a truly great album incorporating credible funk, gospel, blues with propulsive percussion & intriguing electronica. There was a charm and a goofiness radiating from the music that sucked you in. Adding to the momentum in 84 was Jonathan Demme's Stop Making Sense a film of a band performing at the height of it's powers. In 85 Little Creatures marked the end of their purple patch & David Byrne finally called it a day in 91 after the disappointing True Stories & Naked.
