How the Queensland Deposit Bank Shaped Brisbane Suburbs in the 1880s and Beyond / Jon Stanford

The Queensland Deposit Bank and Building Society Limited (QDB) was registered under the Companies Act in 1886, listed on the Brisbane Stock Exchange, was the first Land Bank in Queensland. The QDB raised deposits from the public and purchased land en globo, subdivided it into suburban allotments which were sold by auction. The Bank developed 0ver 20 estates containing over 5,000 allotments from 1887 to 1891 making it the largest subdivider in Queensland. In 1889, the Bank had land for sale in 14 suburbs in Brisbane.
