Eddy's (Late) 80s Grooves Part 13

Eddy's (Late) 80s Grooves Part 13

Chart positions

This show was 1st in the global pop chart, 2nd in the global r&b chart, 5th in the global funk chart and 6th in the global soul chart.

Enjoy my late eighties grooves! Around 1987 there was a musical no man’s land. Disco, soul, funk and new wave faded out and house and hip hop were ready to take over. In this vacuum swingbeat popped up too with early exponents like Alexander O'Neal, Full Force (on my previous cloudcast) and Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam. Other parts of my Eighties Grooves are on my blog (http://professoreddy.blogspot.nl/2015/01/eddys-late-80s-grooves-part-13.html) and don't forget to join me on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/djprofessoreddy Picture: Karen Alexander

Yep sad New Wave faded ..but with the inception of it being radio playable punk, and real punk ending by the 90s...
Yes KROQ's roq of the 80s tagline fading into roq of the 90s did not have the same ring..literally and figuratively . At least we still have the uber new wave band DM filling arenas still with their ever improving and depth of sultry sex longing and the heady baritone voice of the eternal sexy Dave Gahan who keeps pushing the Rose Bowl 101 show in 88 as being their pinnacle of success farther and farther out. on a side note, I being 44 now, never used swingbeat as a term for what I called funk some called r n b (i.e. sos band and yarb. n peoples) or freestyle (Trinere, Cover Girls, Debbie Deb) or electrofunk (fix it in the mix, boogie down bronx) ...Nice mix. Love the song fake long time!
