Boombox 14 “Daytime Disco & Future Funk”

Boombox 14 “Daytime Disco & Future Funk”

Chart positions

This show was 1st in the global disco chart, 1st in the global soul chart, 1st in the global funk chart, 1st in the global electro pop chart and 1st in the global nu-disco chart.

This time I made some kind of a “Boombox Beach Special”. The term ‘daytime disco’ was first used by L.A. based dance duo Poolside. It's music best to be played at times when you're too comfortably seated in a beach chair to dance, but you certainly wouldn't mind watching other people do it. It’s, in other words, pre-party music to steam you up for the night. Future funk recaptures the feeling of retro dance with modern equipment. It’s basically new dance music with a wink to the 1970s and 1980s. Enjoy! Complete tracklist is on my blog: Picture: Paulina Koudijs

Many thanks for your comment and I hope to see you again soon!

Don't feel bad....I wasn't there, either! It's good to see that she is still in the land of the living.
I wish she could make a really funky album ( I got rather spoiled-In the 60's, My grandmother (since gone), was in the habit of buying a LOT of vinyl....being from the South (Atlanta, Georgia, to be precise), she was partial to rather gritty soul, as opposed to the more smooth stuff. A lot of that was by Gladys and her Pips, as well as Jr. Walker. (Today's kids don't have it so good.....)

Professor Eddy

Wow, what a grandmother you had! A great story to read.

Yes, exactly! Sadly, the future loomed (unbeknowst to me):
Gladys is now semi-retired: she visits the big D (Detroit) from time, to time; she is based in Los Vegas, to my knowledge. Two of her loved ones are now Deceased, unfortunately. Bubba was first, and her cousin died a few years ago, rendering her without her Pips.
