A two-part episode presenting songs from US music label Paredon Records (est. 1969) which published recordings of cultural expressions from around the world, especially protests, in order to amplify voices that expressed the struggles and victories of people standing up for peace and social justice.
1. Select tracks from Southeast Asian albums [ Vietnam Will Win! / Thailand - Songs for Life / Philippines - Bangon! (Arise!) ] and I HATE THE CAPITALIST SYSTEM by Barbara Dane.
2. Interviews with Theodore Gonzalves on Paredon’s contributions to the international anti-imperialist struggle, and with Bonifacio Ilagan and Lisa Ito on the past/present sociopolitical conditions in the Philippines.
3. Contemporary renditions from the Cavite Cultural Alliance for Social Change, Mara Peralta, Alyana Cabral, and The General Strike.
