Record Fair And The Big Smoke

Record Fair And The Big Smoke

Playing tracks by

Ramsey Lewis, John Fred, The Kinks, Galt MacDermot, Wilson Pickett and more.

I went to a record fair last week; the first one in a long time. I picked up quite a few bargains on 7", though the amount of crackle explained why they were only a quid each. I got a couple of cracking (and crackle-less) LP's too. Thanks to Sophie for taking me down there.

I followed that up with a trip to London to visit some mates. I managed an afternoon session down Soho with my friend Al standing around while I dug through the crates of several record shops. I bought him a pint to make up for it.

As per my previous Stars on 45 mix, this is more to record what I bought so I can give it a good listen to, rather than a mix mix if you know what I mean.

I'm a big fan of the much sampled Galt MacDermot, so was very happy to find some of his stuff on vinyl, hence four of his tracks appearing. But the track of the mix for me is When The Lights Go Out, the b-side to Judy In Disguise (with glasses).

Enjoy!
