This week's program coincided with the 50th anniversary of John Coltrane's passing - as he has been such an inspiration in the world, instead of the usual three hour selection of pre-1951 recordings, it's just a two hour selection of pre-1951 recordings followed by a solid hour of John Coltrane's music, chosen by my friend Adrian Carr back in Ireland who got me into John Coltrane, more than half my lifetime ago. Someone phoned-in the station at the end of the program and thanked me, so I'm glad to have done it.
There's a small chunk of the first hour deleted due to an unfortunate track-cue blunder, where a 1957 version of the Villa-Lobos Quatuor was played instead of the 1940 recording, oh! well.
