Greetings Juno's ........ again.
With our usual irreverence (so we can concentrate on the music) we're all about Child ballads this time round. No, not kiddies bedtime stories, but Francis Child, the man who decided it was about time he wrote down all the great old songs while they were still being widely sung and before they were lost to us. Of course now it's very easy with the internet and suchlike. Back then (1882 or so) he was scribbling them down with a quill and ink.
305 traditional ballads from England, Scotland, and American variants, they were originally published between 1882-98 as The English and Scottish Popular Ballads, 2,500 pages long, in ten parts, printed one thousand copies.
We aren't playing any of the Everly Bros or John Travolta versions, just some top peeps who can do a proper job.
You can find stuff on Mr Child all over the internet so get Googling (after the show of course).
See you next time............
