Maceo Musicology Webcast #53a
This is a 60 min EDIT from the full 2+ Hour AWB show, re-FUNKED for the Purple Army

One of the greatest bands to come out of the Golden Age of Funk Age in the 70s is the Average White Band. What made AWB special? AWB’s hits usually featured their two sax sound spiraling some hip sh*t in and around the beat. Just as bad is the interaction between the guitars - Onnie McIntyre laying down some of the nastiest rhythm guitar work of 70s funk and the back and forth between lead vocalists Hamish Stuart and Alan Gorrie, also trading off on guitar and bass.

Special appearances by Emma Stuart & James Brown Is Annie
