Act like you know. If there has been any single great influence on Glasgow's musical reputation it has been the impeccable attitude and style of Optimo Espacio's JD Twitch and Jonny Wilkes. If ever there was one, Sundays at the Subclub have been a complete institution of clubbing in Glasgow for the last 12 years- scaring off any competition. Whole venues would sooner close on Sundays than compete with Optimo. It was that serious. When I started at Glasgow School of Art there was no department that would put on a Monday morning lecture in acknowledgment that the attendance would be weak.Mondays were a fucking ghost town on Renfrew Street. Can you imagine a club where dub turned techno turned hip hop turned electro turned rock turned punk turned techno. And the hand type set flyers and the girls and the 'we love your ears' neons. Man, these guys just knew myth building better than anyone I've ever known.
