The Jazz Kid - 75 Years of Blue Note

The Jazz Kid - 75 Years of Blue Note

About the show

Playing tracks by

Wayne shorter, Bill Henderson & The Horace Silver Quintet, McCoy Tyner, Joe Henderson, Donald Byrd and more.

Exactly 75 years ago, on January 6, 1939, Alfred Lion recorded two sessions by Meade Lux Lewis and Albert Ammons, thereby building the foundations of Blue Note Records, the most important jazz label of the fifties and sixties, defining both the sound and image of modern jazz -

"My first Blue Note record was Horace Silver's Serenade To A Soul Sister LP. I currently own 148 albums released on the Blue Note label and had a hard time selecting only one hour of music from their incredibly solid catalogue. I hope you'll like it"
