Jungle by Night consists of nine young lads from Amsterdam who use their musical upbringing, taste, backgrounds and unstoppable eagerness to produce a unique mix of Afrobeat, Ethiojazz, funk, dub & rock.
Former members of Fela Kuti’s backing band witnessed Jungle by Night play and had instant admiration for the young men. "At the end of the night they called us ‘the future of afrobeat’. Their words felt like a true blessing."
Next week they 'll release ‘Hidden’, their second album. Moving slightly away from the afro-beat blueprint that characterized last year’s self-titled debut LP, the nine-piece have added Gamelan tones and studio effects to their afro-funk template, as well as exploring other parts of Africa like Mali’s desert soul and djembe rhythms from Senegal.
In this dj-mix, Jungle by Night Soundsystem's Mix-Tix Sounds explores the origins & inspirations of their music
