KrOB presents... "a hundred"by Kr©B
Agreed that the synth sound is the last gasp of that warm, analog electronicism which would disappear in a few years' time. Also agreed on the overall awesomeness of the sound design in the film. I've always wished that the original, non-tinny electric guitar track from the Du Long Bridge sequence would finally surface.
the sound design though was.. i'm going to say it.. awesome. also, i think the rhythm devils stuff was some of the best music that ever came out of marin county.. and that includes john cipollina's high school band "dicksliver"
pork lips now... it's late 70's synth. which i think was meatier than early 80's synth. when everything started to sound like a yamaha DX-7, the russians were getting itchy trigger fingers. and there's one more thing... wolverines!
I've always thought it was a measure of how great a film APOCALYPSE NOW is that it retains its greatness in spite of the synth score. Granted, it's one of the *better* synth scores out there, but...
