ROOTSMAN BUILDS HIS HOME

ROOTSMAN BUILDS HIS HOME

Chart positions

This show was 2nd in the global roots reggae chart, 2nd in the global vinyl only chart, 7th in the global dub chart and 9th in the global reggae chart.

Ites Iyah! After some time of technical breakdown, iman fixed the recording-station and am back with some fine Roots. Thanks and Praises to Jah and all human supporters in this mission, seen!
Before the laptop broke down iman was working on a set that was ready to be recorded, but written upon the blackboard now for the last weeks. So here it comes, fulljoy a set of classic tunes out of my longplayercrates. Man like Dennis Brown, Culture, Heptones, Peter Tosh, Congos, Abyssinians and Errol Dunkley.

"The devil tink sey
Him ketch jackpot
Little did he know
Him pot ketch trash."

No LIE!!! This is THE perfect mix. I'm on my second listen right now. I really respect the Bob and Peter drop. You chose two good tunes. When did I know it would a great mix, when you dropped WALK IN THE STREETS OF GLORY by Israel Vibration. JAH!

Karl Kenyatta

Yes Gawdmix, happy to hear the feedback and that you love the Israel Vibration tune. Iman put Bunny, Bob and Peter in one set from time to time, just to show that the Wailers are still a Trio for me, eventhough they went their single ways later on. Stay blessed and check out the older stuff in my corner. K

True words Loverman. Nuff wisdom in the music, seen. Put the overstanding into I n I reality and live according to it, Rastafari.

Robin Catto ~ Reggae Heaven

WICKED selection, Karl! Never heard the DJ cut to Come Away Jah Children. Is that Prince Fari? Is it on an album or a single? BIG UP YOURSELF! :-)

Karl Kenyatta

Yes Selector, iman think you point to U-Roy with "great psalms". it is not actually a deejay cut to the Original Survivor tune, different riddim but fitting in tempo and tuning. Hold them Jah Jah, hold them. Yes i. It is on the Frontline Sampler Vol 1. The whole selection is from LP. Secret weapon of the yard :) Forward Jah works ina fine style, Bredda Robin.

Robin Catto ~ Reggae Heaven

I just listened again and it must have been a Prince Far I jingle you played just as the dub started. I have U-Roy - The Great Psalms on the Dread Ina Babylon LP. And my very exciting news is that I'm DJing at the U-Roy show when he comes to London on 5 July. :-) Keep up the GREAT work!

Karl, I think Robin is referring to the snippet of Far I that features between vocal and dub of the Original Survivor. Robin, those lyrics certainly feature at the beginning of Give Love on Far I's Dub to Africa album.

Karl Kenyatta

Yes Ites. I play the Prince Far I intro from my second turntable, oldschool sampling seen. The Johnny Clarke tune is truly great, waiting to play it from single one day. Music that can make a day...

A great selection Karl - 'Oh Jah' Heptones got a rewind or two....

Karl Kenyatta

Thx BD6, jaman. This tune got me on the hookline for some time now. Great rockers fe true.

Karl Kenyatta

Seems as if the two of us are true Heptone fans, too many big tunes coming from Leroy Sibbles & Co. "Oh Jah" is produced by Niney Observer Holness. Big up di whole foundation posse!
