Thanks PF Lady! Smoking gummibears? That would explain the "popping" noise during that song: those are brain cells poppin'! Have a great weekend!

Great show, Johnny. Particularly enjoyed Waylon Jennings, "Ain't Livin' Long Like This." I'm familiar with the 'Rodney Crowell version, which has one of the all-time great guitar solos by James Burton. Which came first?

Johnny Switchblade

Thanks tferd! Rodney Crowell's version was first -- Waylon's came out a year later.

The Captain Maniac Show

"Missed it by that much"! (A Get Smart quote). Gawd, I haven't heard Mendocino in a long while, but one thing that sticks out in my mind is Doug singing "teenybopper". An oldie from my misguided youth! Doug Sahm died of a heart attack in New Mexico in 1999, at the age of 58.
