In Britain in the spring of 1966, by far the best unsigned band, in my view, was The Move. (I hadn't heard Pink Floyd yet...) Every week they would come down to London for Birmingham and put on the most remarkable shows at The Marquee. I was knocked out and tried, vainly, to sign them to Elektra Records. For many reasons, they never conquered the world, but they left some great, eccentric recordings.
